At the Crossroads; A Pisces Partial Lunar Eclipse

Earlier this year, we had a New Moon in the sign of Pisces at 20º. An introduction to something being ushered into this world, into our lives. This third decan of Pisces is one ruled by Mars. In a Jupitarian sign, Mars finds himself representing a place of expansive activity. I think so much of the symbolic representation of death in this particular area of the zodiac. It is that bridge between Pisces and Aries, the only place in the zodiac that has decans ruled by the same planet in succession. And in that way, I think to those last moments of life, reminded of this fact at a recent meet up, of the lucidity that is present in those who are on the verge of an ending. Those moments of seeming improvement that arise just before the passing of an individual, soon to be ushered into a new realm of being.

When reflecting on the New Moon in Pisces earlier this year, I shared that it was a time when sudden, unexpected change would make space for a more aligned path to open up before us. Saturn at the time, bringing in a groundedness to this dreamy, illusory sign, providing a nice foundation for us as we continued on. A doorway of sorts.

Today, on the evening of the 17th of September, we find ourselves again meeting this place during a Partial Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses are astronomical phenomena that symbolize times of great change. From a literal perspective, they are times when the light of the luminaries are hindered, in this case, the Full Moon will have a shadow cast upon it as the earth blocks the rays of the Sun. Symbolically, they are times in which we may temporarily feel a level of lost vitality and self care practices are encouraged- hydrating, a bath, self massage, rest. We may not even notice the effects of an eclipse on our physical or subtle body until several days later, much like the breeze upon us from a passing vehicle. For this reason, decisions are best left to be made until after the Eclipse has passed.

This Lunar Eclipse occurs at 25º of Pisces, the Moon within arms reach of both Neptune and Saturn, facing the Sun and Mercury in the sign of Virgo. While this Eclipse represents the grand entrance of a new (and very mutable) nodal cycle for us that will carry on into 2027, the Nodes are still finishing up their jaunt through Aries and Libra until January. With this particular lunation, we get a taste for what will come up to be processed for us over the next two and half years.

The energy coming forward for this Eclipse is not so dissimilar to that encountered earlier this year. Uranus still makes a fairly tight aspect to the Moon, shaking the ground underneath us, breaking apart the remnants of the less than secure facets of our lives. Neptune still providing some level of vision, not to be chased or held too tightly, but offering us the intuition and hope that’s required in times of transition. Saturn sits beside us, bringing some level of realism and structure in this sign that can so often be boundless, lost in the ether. The Sun sitting in wide relation to an exalted Mercury, bringing sensitive attention to detail as we press forward, recalibrating as we settle into changing energy along this journey that has been unfolding for us over the past six months.

Jupiter, the ruler of Pisces, presently finds itself in Gemini making a sextile to Chiron and squares, both, the Sun and Moon offering us the ability to bring positive change to our lives, maybe in ways we normally wouldn’t feel the confidence to bring in, so long as we do so with some level of discipline. Meanwhile, Mars squares the Nodes bringing up a place of tension that can offer us reflection to the blind spots we may have missed as we work out the last bit of progress in the cardinal crossroads of our chart before fully immersing ourselves in the mystical and healing axis of Pisces and Virgo. Mars in the sign of Cancer is not an entirely easeful place. It can bring deep irritability, closed off to others in some passive agitation, feeling the weight of water that doesn’t allow ease of forward momentum. In relation to the current Nodes, it may be reflecting where this passivity has hindered our connection to ourselves and others, making known where we are not active participants in relation to our world.

The tension building within is coming to a head at this time. It is up to us to utilize this awareness with some faith and a little intuition in order to consciously let go of what is ready to be released now. With some reflection, feel into all thats happened since March of this year. What has been changing for you, what has been solidifying? These themes will continue to unfold as we enter this new Nodal cycle.

Recently, I shared that I am offering a service dedicated to exploring what this Nodal axis story is opening up in the life of the individual. Weaving together threads of the past utilizing a handful of astrological tools and timing techniques, structuring the story through memories held within significant dates provided by the Nodes over a lifetime. My own experience with the Nodes, as someone with them angular in my own chart, have been incredibly palpable over the years, ever more as I deepen my relationship with this ancient system called Astrology. The axis of the Nodes bring incredible change to our lives through 18 month periods, piecing together major, and minor life events that shape various, specific aspects of our lives. I’m excited to be able to share this deeply intimate story weaving process with others. If you desire to unravel the threads of your current luminary journey with me you can do so HERE.

Blessed Eclipsing.
